Quality Assurance Process
Quality Assurance Process
The i-merino Quality Assurance program encompasses our entire wool supply chain, monitoring quality, deadlines, and efficiency all the way from farm to customer online.
The system is unique in incorporating a two-way flow of information along the entire wool supply chain.
Aim of the Quality Assurance Program (QAP)
- To outline the best management practices needed for the production of high quality wool fibre for the global outdoor industry without compromising the environment
- Improve efficiency of the whole pipeline developing shorter lead times, better inventory control and innovative new merino wool products
- A fully accountable and transparent approach to quality control
- Self-regulation and self-improvement amongst supply chain participants
- To improve the capacity and the skill base of i-merino and its partners to meet environmental challenges, to facilitate changes and adapt management strategies as required from new standards and regulations
Focus of the QAP
- Compliance of Quality Assurance standards
- Communication of production performance information and monitoring
- Building individual financial capacity to implement change and retain flexibility
- Supply chain training programs for all industry sectors
Process of the QAP system
- Establish a data set comprising key performance indicators (KPI) across the supply chain
- Set up a series of standardised forms, including an authenticity system, reflecting the KPIs in an e-mail format to be transmitted back to the i-merino database.
- These forms will be part of an agreed quality control process. The fields will integrate current in-house test parameters and results.
- The database will interpret and compare information as it is sent in against performance benchmarks generated from the previous processing data.
- All the forms must have an electronic authentication signature indicating integrity of the information.
- The system will also incorporate purchase order creation as the wool moves through each independent production stage.
- Inventory management is incorporated into each i-merino line managed by the system
