The problem with normal costing models is that they don’t take into account all costs. Like the environmental cost, for example. Or the social cost of a family walking off the farm they’ve worked for generations. i-merino doesn’t approach costing in the normal manner.
We understand that growing merino wool to our Sustainable Farming System can take time and money in establishing – more time and money than traditional methods - and we don’t expect woolgrowers to bear this entire cost.
We pay our farmers a “fair price” for growing their wool within the limitations of their environment and technology because this not only helps preserve the environments of our farmers, but it helps sustain their families and communities.
This philosophy also applies to the rest of our production chain. We work closely with all our partners to discover the true cost of production and reward them appropriately for delivering premium i-merino fabric to the customer with minimal environmental impact.
Conversely, i-merino does not work with suppliers who insist on cutting prices, because if the price is cut it means something or someone is getting short-changed and it’s generally the environment or the most vulnerable members of the workforce.
I-merino uses highly efficient production partners who are committed to the success of the program, the actual price of i-merino fabrics and garments are very competitive with what is found in the rest of the industry. This means that they offer the best ‘true value’ to customers.
When consumers buy a garment made from i-merino fabric we guarantee that they will receive a quality item and that all elements of the chain that produced it have been paid a fair price for their important contribution.
This is clearly a fair and just way to do business, but it’s also intelligent too, because it helps make the i-merino process sustainable in the broadest sense of the word.
Our Fair Price for Farmers is another reason why i-merino is the most sustainable performance activewear fabric on the planet.
